I tend to think of open apertures as the single most distinguishing characteristic differentiating humanist sans serifs from their brethren. A closed-aperture humanist sans seems a bit of an oxymoron…2 -

Looks like you might have unusually good spacing for a first effort. Congrats. Descenders seem unusually short to me.2
